Predicting
Ovulation with the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor
A High Tech Fertility-Friend for TTC Women
The ClearBlue Easy Fertility
Monitor is the most advanced method available for increasing your chances of
conceiving a baby. The fertility monitor works by tracking two key hormones
- the luteinizing hormone (lh) and estrogen levels present in urine. Based on
the start of the menstrual cycle, the monitor will ask you to perform test stick
readings for 10 or 20 consecutive days, depending on the length of your cycle
and the timing of your LH surge (the increase on luteinizing hormone that takes
place right before ovulation). The fertility monitor indicates your fertility
level for the day: low, high, or peak. Click to buy a ClearBlue (ClearPlan)
fertility
monitor or for ClearBlue Easy test
sticks.
What make the ClearBlue fertility monitor unique is that it
measure two hormones. Saliva ovulation tests (ovulation microscopes) check for
the presence of estrogen. Urine-based ovulation tests (OPKs) detect the hormone
lh. The Clear Blue fertility monitor is the only fertility test that tests two
hormone levels in predicting fertility. Best of all, it's easy to use, with
a digital display that tells you your fertility level in words: Low, High, or
Peak.

FAQ:
Common ClearBlue Fertility Monitor questions & answers
Is the Clearblue
fertility monitor the same as the clearplan fertility Monitor?
Yes it is! Formerly known as the Clearplan monitor, the name was updated to
ClearBlue.
When should I press
the "m" button?
You can start using the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor on the first day of
your menstrual cycle, but not before. When you press the "m" button
you establish your "testing Window" which is set to run from 3 hours
before the time you press the "m" button, to 3 hours after. You should
set the "m" button so that it is convenient for you to test your first
urine of the day. To set your Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, press the "m"
button firmly for five seconds and release it when an "m" and day
number "1" appear on the display screen. At the start of each new
cycle you can either press your "m" button at the same time as you
did on your previous cycle to give you the same testing window, or change your
testing window by setting the "m" button at a different time.
When should I have
sex?
High Fertility is indicated by two bars on the display screen. This is displayed
when the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor detects an increase in your estrogen
levels, which occurs as you approach your Peak Fertility. Your most fertile
days are when your Fertility Monitor shows Peak Fertility indicated by three
bars on the display screen. You are at Peak Fertility around ovulation. To maximize
your chances of conceiving, we recommend that you have sex on at least one day
of High Fertility and one day of Peak Fertility.
When can I test?
On mornings when the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor requires further information
about your hormone levels, a test will be requested. You can only test on the
mornings when the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor requests a test. Tests must
be performed with the first urine of the day, within the testing window. In
cycle 1, your first test will be requested on day 6. The Clearblue Easy Fertility
Monitor will request a test every day for 10 or 20 days depending on your cycle
length and when it sees Peak Fertility. In subsequent cycles, the first test
day will vary according to what the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor has learned
about your cycle. You will still be asked for a test every day for 10 or 20
days. If you want to, you may stop testing after your Clearblue Easy Fertility
Monitor has shown you Peak Fertility. If you have 10 tests or more left over,
then you may save them and use them during your next cycle. If you have less
than 10 tests left, you should discard them and purchase a new pack for your
next cycle. It is important that you always use your test sticks in sets of
10 from the same pack.
My Clearblue Easy
Fertility Monitor changed from Low to High Fertility, but I never saw Peak Fertility?
This may happen if your cycle was much shorter or longer than usual. Also, it
is possible that you may not have ovulated this cycle. It is not uncommon for
women to have one cycle per year in which they do not ovulate. If you have missed
any urine tests this cycle then it is also possible that you may not see Peak
Fertility.
What exactly is
the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor?
An over the counter conception aid that can help you maximize your chances of
conceiving your baby better than any other method. The Clearblue Easy Fertility
Monitor is the most advanced technology available without a prescription. It
is the first and only palm-sized electronic system that monitors your personal
hormones to provide you with an unmistakable display of your personal level
of fertility every day of your cycle. The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor measures
2 key hormones to more accurately identify more fertile days than any other
over the counter method while storing your personalized data for up to six cycles.
What does a flashing
"m" mean?
A flashing "m" symbol on the display screen indicates that the end
of your cycle is near and your period may begin within a few days. If your period
starts set your Fertility Monitor for the next cycle. Do not worry if the "m"
symbol is not flashing and your period starts: the "m" button can
still be set. If the "m" symbol flashes for several days and you think
that your period is late, then you may have conceived and we recommend you use
a home pregnancy test such as Clearblue Easy®.
What does a flashing
test stick with rays on it mean?
A flashing test stick means that the Fertility Monitor is reading the test that
you have inserted. When the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor displays a flashing
test stick without rays surrounding the stick, as shown in the instruction leaflet
on page 15, it is still working correctly. As long as the test stick is flashing,
the Fertility Monitor is reading the test and will still give you an accurate
result.
What does an “!”
and “remove test stick” symbol mean?
Once the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor has finished reading the test stick,
it will turn itself off after 30 seconds. To find out your fertility status
you will need to remove the test stick and then turn on your Clearblue Easy
Fertility Monitor. If your Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor is displaying an
"!" and "remove test stick" symbol, simply turn off your
Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, remove the stick, and then turn your Clearblue
Easy Fertility Monitor on again.
Can I still use
the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor if I am taking Clomid?
You may still use the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor if you are taking Clomid,
but please be aware that the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor may not reliably
detect High Fertility. However, it may still be possible to detect Peak Fertility.
Therefore, if you are taking Clomid and trying to conceive, you may still benefit
from using the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, but consult with your physician
first. In a recent study on patients using the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor
while taking Clomid, some patients did experience more High Fertility days when
taking Clomid but their Peak Fertility days were still accurately identified.
Is the Clearblue
Easy Fertility Monitor suitable for me?
The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor is suitable for women whose natural monthly
cycle normally lasts between 21 and 42 days. Women who have recently been pregnant,
stopped breast-feeding or stopped using hormonal contraception (e.g., the pill)
or any other treatment that might affect their cycle, may wish to wait until
they have had at least two natural menstrual cycles in a row (each lasting 21-42
days) before using the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor.
